December 2021
I’ve spent the past two years sitting out COVID-19 in Australia, initially in Fremantle and Perth, and for the past 15 months in my hometown, Albury. While we all reeled in shock and waited for the world to return to something like normal, I got cracking on getting my book, Skinful, into publishable shape. Just as I was about to self-publish it, Brio Books made an offer for Australian and New Zealand rights, and more recently Lantern Publishing in England has taken rights for the UK and Ireland. Publication is now just a few weeks away and publicity has started, with the help of two publicists: Nicole Webb for ANZ and Deirdre Roberts for Britain.
I’m leaving Albury again on 4 January and will be based in Sydney until I return to Europe, hopefully at the end of March. Albury has been good to me again, but I’m not ready to call it my life.
